As you may or may not know, I’ve been on a quick trip to Florida for some business. On the way back we decided to drive along the Gulf Coast and find a nice stopping point. We settled on Dauphin Island, Alabama, and found a nice little place called Gulf Breeze Hotel. It’s a tiny 31 room hotel, but thankfully they allowed dogs and the beach was a short walk across the street. The entire island was more or less the width of the street + the beach on either side, sort of reminded me of Key West. It wasn’t too populated either so I can’t complain. We got there just in time for sunset, which I had big plans on photographing. Sadly there was a giant wall of clouds on the horizon so that meant the sun set earlier than it should have and it got dark quicker. I didnt have much time, but we took a quick walk and got one little shot of Enso walking with Jory. The following morning we took to the Dauphin Island Park for a quick walk and game of frisbee. Enso had a blast. Bonsai just watched.
When I initially took these evening pictures, I thought they might not have come out too well given the quick loss of light due to the clouds. I was wrong, however. I found I really liked this one in particular of Enso walking with Jory. There’s something sweet about it to me. I gave it a soft, and painted texture. (top left)
The following morning we hit the beach. We actually went to the Dauphin Island Park and lucky for us we arrived before the crowds, which meant the dogs could have a fun game of frisbee. I was really happy how these pictures came out with the full sun early the next morning. Enso had so much fun playing fetch on the beach. He got so wet and dirty and he did not care one bit.
Overall it was an exceptionally quick and short trip, but well worth it. We will definitely make plans to go back and do more pictures on a family vacation.
Let me also take this time to remind you to be sure to include your pet in your family photograph, or just make time to take a pet only play session on your family vacation. You won’t regret the memories you’ll have with your furry friend. If you are interested in my pet photography, feel free to contact me for more information. PS, this is Gulf Breeze Motel. I’d recommend this place if you visit Dauphin Island.
