Welcome to our site. We’re so happy that you’re here! We’d love to know more about you but first, you might like to know a bit about us.
My name is Abby and I’m the person behind the lens. That’s my assistant Enso. It goes without saying, if you know me, that I’m an animal lover. I grew up on a “farm”. Not the “traditional” farm you might think, but a farm of exotic animals mostly: raccoons, fox, deer, and we even had a bobcat in the house…. The older I became, the more I realized that a day without animals was a day alone. At one point in time I got “found out” for taking my pet sugar glider to work….Needless to say, I was an animal lover… working non pet related jobs….I had given up on working with animals….I wasn’t going to be a vet or a trainer… and what else was there???
It wasn’t until I was in college that I got my first digital camera and my interest in photography was sparked…In fact, I was at the Philadelphia Zoo…. testing out my new camera. The thing I loved about photography so much right away was freezing a moment in time. I love to photograph things as they happen; life… as it happens. The camera can see and capture the things the eyes can’t always: A fraction of a second that would otherwise be lost in the eternal see of time. It somehow came to be that at one moment at that zoo I realized I could combine everything I loved: that with my camera I could capture unique, real and memorable moments in life, and preserve them with artwork. More than anything, I loved it when I captured an animal’s personality. It was real, genuine and happy. It’s what made them unique.
Did you know: research shows that people often don’t think to include their family pet in their photo sessions, but when given the opportunity to do so, they overwhelmingly choose to use the pictures that include a pet….because pets are family. I love photographing pets because you can capture their expressions and moods….genuine emotions that revealed what makes them special….And that’s what we remember about them. Their unique quirks and special personality.
And that is how ‘Pawsonality’ came to be….
“Personality is everything in art..…”
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
